For its ‘outstanding support’, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gravesend was awarded Best Youth Work Employer 2012. Wanda Barnard has been the youth and children’s worker there for eight years. This is her story:
"The church has always supported the children’s and youth projects and has always provided us with adequate finances and volunteers. The church recently adopted the ‘We Love Our Youth Worker!’ charter and, to be honest, we have not had to change anything. I have a team of people praying for me and a support structure I can tap into when I need it."
